Coffee, what the hell would we do without? When we read a new study a while ago that showed that 60% of all coffees are at high risk of dying out, we were shocked. Of course we never survive a day without coffee.
I’m sure it won’t come as a surprise if we say that drinking too much coffee is not good for you. But how do you notice that? And how much coffee can you drink in a day? You can read the answer to these questions here.
1. You are constantly restless
A clear sign that you drink too much coffee in a day is when you are constantly restless during the day. It is difficult for you to sit still and suffer from a kind of nerves, while you have no real reason for that. You only walk in circles, you can’t keep your legs still when you sit and focusing on one thing is very difficult.
2. You are very tired
Most of us drink coffee as a boost – that caffeine has a boosting effect is also well known. But too much caffeine can actually make you feel more tired. Coffee can distort your sleep patterns in a negative way. It is difficult for you to fall asleep, sleep very restlessly with the result that you are very tired the next day. What are you going to do? Drinking coffee to let yourself get through the day, but whether that’s wise …
3. And finds others very tiring …
Another sign that you drink too much coffee in a day is when you annoy yourself unnecessarily with anything and everything, while you normally do not have such a problem at all. You may think that you have a bad day, but it may also be because you have drunk too much coffee. How? (Too much) caffeine allows you to breathe more superficially, so that your brain receives less oxygen and that in turn has a negative influence on your thinking and judgment.
4. You have some headaches
Without you noticing it you can only be addicted to coffee. If you drink too much of it, your brain will naturally become over-stimulated and that leads to a headache. Coffee can also have a drying effect on you. Are you more thirsty than normal and do you use the toilet regularly? Coffee can be the cause.
How much caffeine is “too much” in a day?
Everyone has their own caffeine limit, one person is more used to the other. The nasty thing about caffeine is that as long as you don’t notice that your body is reacting negatively, it’s tempting to increase the daily dose a little. Caffeine is not only in coffee, but also in tea, energy drinks, cola and chocolate. On average, American men consume around 600 mg of caffeine per day and women receive around 500 mg. If you notice that you are sensitive to caffeine, you should limit it to 400 mg of caffeine per day. How many cups of coffee are those? About 5 cups of coffee a day, but if you also drink tea in addition to your coffee, keep in mind that when you drink 4 cups of coffee and 2 cups of tea, for example, you are already at the limit.
In any case, drink no more than 6 cups of coffee per day and also read a coffee-free day from time to time. Then your body has time to recover. Even before you realize it, your body will in no time depend on your daily dose of coffee. And of course you don’t want to become addicted, so drinking a coffee for a day is not a good idea.
