General and local anesthesia is used in dentistry. General anesthesia is mainly used in the hospital for surgical procedures and local anesthesia in the dental practice for treatments. Laughing gas is mainly used in anxious patients and patients with intellectual disabilities. Different techniques are used for local anesthesia. The choice of a technique depends on the anatomy of the nervous system in the jaw system. The different techniques and the materials used are discussed in this chapter.
