This sounds ideal: activities that boost the burning of calories, even without you sweating. It is possible!
These expert-supported activities will promote calorie burning:
1. Good night’s sleep
Perhaps the easiest way that takes the least energy to burn more calories every day: sleep. Sleeping is something we all have to do for at least seven hours a day. Sleep helps your body perform better. Research has also shown that people who sleep chronically less than six hours a day have lower metabolic values, have a higher chance of developing chronic diseases and have a higher percentage of weight gain.
2. Take protein again
Burn calories while eating hamburgers? Yes, please! Protein causes your body to work a little harder to digest food than carbohydrates and fat. It is therefore smart to reduce your intake of added fats and simple carbohydrates and to increase your intake of protein-rich foods (such as eggs, quinoa, lentils and almonds).
3. Walk or cycle, instead of by car
If you have the option, you can leave the car. You don’t have to jump in the car for every message. Sometimes you are only 5 or 10 minutes behind the wheel, while you could have walked in 20 minutes. Moreover, walking or cycling will also ensure that you burn a lot more calories.
4. Lift your pillow over your head on the couch
It may sound silly, but most of us sit on the couch and that means often sitting still and not moving. But you can (and should) build in some movements so that you can burn off some calories while you watch television. For example, lift your pillow 50 times over your head or walk around the couch during every commercial break. It keeps your body moving, which is good for your muscles, while you also burn calories.
5. 6/60 rule
Just move for 6 minutes every 60 minutes a day, that is what this rule entails. Only six minutes of standing or moving every hour of the day is sufficient to compensate for the metabolic delay due to long periods of sitting. It can be that simple!
6. Washing your car by yourself
Sure, it is sometimes nice and easy to drive to the car wash, but you can burn a lot more calories if you do it yourself. Because you wash low and high parts of your car, your body moves up and down, which does a lot for your legs (not to mention your back and arms).
7. Standing while you work
With some companies it is already possible, but consider alternating sitting behind your desk with standing work. You can also apply it at home, for example by working on the counter standing. You can burn up to 20 to 50 calories per hour with it.
8. Chewing gum
It may not sound like the healthiest habit in the world, but chewing gum can cause you to burn calories. It trains your facial muscles and it prevents you from snacking. Psst, it can also minimize a chunk!
9. Singing in the shower
Another reason to sing your favorite song in the shower. Singing in the shower can burn 136 calories per hour. It also releases endorphins and lowers the stress hormone.
