Nowadays you hear it more and more: people who are detoxing their bodies, also known as “detoxes”.
Everyone is constantly exposed to harmful substances from outside every day. Think of polluted air, but also of everything that you eat and drink. Toxins are excreted through the skin, liver, intestines, kidneys and lungs, so you don’t get sick.
But sometimes the detox does not work properly. This can cause you to suffer from chronic complaints, lack of sleep, skin problems such as acne, irritated mucous membranes, excessive fatigue and a strong body odor.
A solution can be an expensive and intensive detox treatment with all kinds of different juices. But you can also help your body with the detoxification process. I give you 10 tips!
1. Take a sauna
Your skin is an important organ of toxins. Heat makes your pores open and makes you sweat. For example, toxins, including mainly aluminum, can leave your body.
2. Drink plenty of water
It is very important. Toxins are converted into water, which must leave the body. This is also done via urine. Try to drink a lot of water in one day. For example, put a glass of water at each tap and fill it as soon as you see it. Drink water from glasses as much as possible; plastic also contains yeasts that can leak into your water.
3. Eat organic as much as possible
Nowadays a lot of food is processed and sprayed to keep it as long as possible. However, this is not good for your body, because a lot of food contains toxins. Meat contains a lot of toxins, so try to eat less. If a vegetarian lifestyle does not suit you, choose organic meat. Also always buy fruit and vegetables organic. If this is not an option, peel your fruit as much as possible. Fruits and vegetables with a lot of toxins are nectarines, apples, peaches, celery and peppers. The least toxins are usually found on pineapples, mango, onions and avocados.
4. Try intermittent fasting
Intermittent fasting is also called periodic fasting. Several studies have shown that your liver can detoxify much better if you do not eat for a longer period of time. By fasting, your body will temporarily go into survival mode, causing cells to renew faster and damaged, old cells to be broken down. This reduces the risk of diseases and aging. Most people who fast do this from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following day. You then fix 17 hours a day. Fasting can be effective from 3 pm without food.
5. Check your cleaning products
Cleaning agents will probably keep your house tidy, but are full of toxins that you breathe in all day. Therefore choose baking soda and vinegar. These contain no toxins and keep your house perfectly clean.
6. Avoid foods with a lot of mercury
Fish can be very healthy for humans. But also investigate which fish is best for eating. Fish contains a lot of mercury; a toxin that can cause a lot of damage to your body. Predator fish, such as tuna, king mackerel, swordfish and shark, contain a lot of mercury. Try to eat these fish hardly or not at all. Rather opt for herring, sardines or salmon. Corn syrup also contains a lot of mercury, and this product is often used in sweet foods. Therefore, always check the label before you enter your sweet requirement.
7. Eat as much fiber as possible
Your intestines play a very large role in detoxing your body. In addition, intestines help prevent all kinds of diseases such as colon cancer, heart disease, and old age diabetes. Fiber is mainly found in fruit and vegetables, so try to eat more of it every day.
8. Sleep and breathe well
A good sleep does wonders for your body. After a good night’s sleep you probably feel more rested and energetic, but your body also recovers and detoxes during your sleep. The need for sleep is different for everyone, but try to sleep for around 8 hours. In addition, in the way of exhalation also very important. Toxins leave the body through your lungs and your breath. The body repels the CO2 through good and deep breathing. If you are tense, you have a faster breath, which means that not all CO2 is emitted and your body is less deacidified.
9. Herbal tea instead of caffeine and alcohol
Although a beer and a good cup of coffee can taste delicious, they contain toxins that are not good for your body. Trade in caffeine for herbal tea, ginger or turmeric tea. These are substances that help your body detox and can deal with inflammation. Try to drink only herbal teas during a fast period in the morning.
10. Eat the following foods for good detoxification
In addition to laundry lists full of foods that are not good for your body, there are fortunately many to mention that will help your body in this process:
